Photographer's Note

A winter solstice holiday photo ought to have snow in it, but the weather in San Francisco just refused to cooperate (though it did get down to around 40 F / 5 C last night). So I had to dig into my travels for a snow shot.

I picked this one, of Tallinn, because it also suggests the low slanted northern light of the solstice time. (True, it's February, but it's also close to 60 North.) The spire on the right is the Town Hall, and the one one the left is a church.

Technical: In RAW, set to Daylight. Sharpen. In CS3, noise reduction (why noise at ISO 160?), Levels and a little more sharpening.

So: Happy Solstice / Christmas / Channukah (a bit late) / Saturnalia / Kawanzaa - and in all cases, Happy New Year!
