Photographer's Note

The Suvisaaristo islands (=Summer Islands) in Espoo was in earlier times a community of fishers and craftsmen. Still in the 50's there were 6 boat builders. It was also earlier a popular summer cottage area but nowadays the majority of houses in the bigger islands are in all year use. The bridges to the 3 biggest islands were built in 1936.

I was taking this photo standing on the first bridge connecting the mainland and the first island. It was late January, but there was no real ices. Normally one can walk or ski on the ice at that time of year, but the past winter was very mild and the sea never froze properly. Having as little snow as in the picture is not very rare in recent years in southern Finland, but having an iceless sea also in shallow bays is exceptional.

The title is for that particular moment, when the sky was just starting to clear up after a whole day cloudiness.
