Photographer's Note
Colmar's "Little Venice" is very little indeed. It occupies a single block, with houses built very close to the banks of the tiny La Lauch river.
Several of the buildings have taken advantage of the charming location, with lower levels now occupied by restaurants. Le Petit Gourmand actually has a street between itself and the river, but they've cleverly set up an outdoor area across the road from the building, taking advantage of the ambiance in fine weather.
Tech: shot in RAW, converted to jpeg, levels adjustment to the sky alone to bring out the blue, resized and sharpened for TE.
Please forgive my inability to critique as fully as I did earlier. I am hopeful that I will be back in full swing by the beginning of August. In the mean time, I would like to continue sharing my photos with you.
Many thanks for the good wishes for recovery that many members have sent me off-list.

Hello Silke. The city Colmar could use your photos as advertisement. Everything looks much inviting. Now the guests are only missing. A beautiful motive. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hello Silke,
A sharp, crisp shot with a natural lead-in to the eye! The napkins and stems just add enough colour to complement the shot. So who are the lucky diners? I'm ready for a tasty coq au vin!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Silke,
Beautifully done .. marvelous graphical elements. .. great little splashes of colors ... my favorite part of it is the relationship I feel between the glasses and the background water ..
take care,
John

Hello Silke,
A different point of view!
Many ways to depict dinner by the riverside, but this is one of the more original!
The moody colours catch my eyes, and I notice the yellow napkins for contrast...
Well framed, good details!
Greetings,

Hi Silke,
fine invitation, a nice place detectable even in this reduced view. Very well reduced sharpness und the inclusion of the bridge gives a lot of atmosphere.

Hi Silke
Lovely composition, nice and sharp, no harsh shadows, and the background is just out of focus.

This works well Silke - I like how you used the shallow focus to draw attention to the glasses.
I think it would have worked even better if you had gone in closer on the glasses, removing the chairs and table in the foreground. Also, using a wider aperture to throw the background as out of focus as possible would have improved it as well.
Still, despite these little niggles, I like the overall mood of the image.
Cheers,
Ben

Nice idea! I've been studying the reflections in the glasses. The long focal length has provided sharp foreground and blurry background. The details are sharp and the repeating textures and colours make the scene very inviting with that lovely light falling on the glasses. A sort of minimalistic and simple shot that really works.

Andrew

This is really nice, Silke, it really captures the oh-so-European contrast between the old worn bridge and the elegant glasses which just seem to glow. It looks like it's not a fancy restaurant, but it takes full advantage of the atmosphere which you have captured so well. Regards, Ken.

Hi Silke,
Great sharpness on the glass. The light in the entire frame is well balanced. I would have liked to see a lower f value to see even more isolation of the glass. TFS, Gilbert

Hi Silke,
Very simple beauty you have managed in this fine restaurant by the water. The glasses shine brightly as they reflect the green of the chairs which are complimented beautifully by the yellow napkins with all blending so well with the mute background of the river bridge.
