Photographer's Note

After the fire of Notre Dame de Paris last year I have prepared few photos of this magnificent symbolic structure, but I didn’t want to overdose them at that time, so I kept one in my drawer for the anniversary of that sad event. Sadly, I have missed the moment, the anniversary was three days ago.
In the late blue hour light the cathedral appears here as if made of gold. Even though gold is one of the most precious materials, this tragedy taught us that there are things so much more precious. Coincidentally, other churches in France were also unlucky (some examples from early 2019):
- Fire at church of Saint-Sulpice, Paris. (17 March)
- Vandalism at church of Notre Dame des Enfants, Nîmes. (6 February)
- Vandalism at church of Notre Dame, Dijon. (9 February)
- Fire and vandalism at Lavaur Cathedral, Lavaur. (5 February)
- Repeated vandalism at churches in Yvelines. (25 January to 10 February)
- Three acts of vandalism at the church of Saint Nicolas in Houilles. (25 January, 1 February, 3 February)
- An act of vandalism at the church of Saint Nicolas in Maisons-Laffitte. (10 February)

Now in the context of the virus causing terrible disease around the world, many people would give away their gold for the medicine. I am proud to work now for a medicine manufacturer and I can indeed say that the new generation medicines are much more expensive than gold.
