Photographer's Note

Paris-Plage is the summer yearly event in Paris. The purpose was to bring a kind of "Sea, sun & beach" to Paris. There are lots of entertainments for kids (scrapbooking, readings, jumping, rollerblading initiation etc.) & for adults (dancing, concerts, etc.).

You will also see multiple street artists like this one, playing piano, getting people singing together ... socially speaking that was a very nice show & enjoyable moment !

The event has been the opportunity to take photos with (for me) a still most-wanted Leica M6 (*) ;o) and also (most important) to assess my darkroom & develop my own film at home ... That was a very good experience.

(*) soon my birthday, so if you want to raise a fund ;o) !

I like the b/w teratment here which adds so much value and richness to this image whih usually misses in colour. The people and their focused emotions is lovely. I like the way you have composed it all

Une belle compo qui sonne américain pas son grain, son choix du noir et blanc ainsi que la scène instinctive et naturelle, enfin cela reste un avis personnel bien entendu... j'adore!

Salut Alain, so filled with a mood of the previous century's first half, something like photos after WW2, great optimism and joy. Love this one, a true offering of joy and testament to the indomitable human spirit. A beautiful bw!

Il y a quelquechose de formidable dans cette photo, Slain, et c'est ceci: on dirait une photo de l'immediate apres-qguerre, jst apresd la liberation de Paris - il y a certianment l'esprit de Doisneau ici - c'est vraiment tres bien juge et ca me dait grand plaisir.

Très sympa, un beau moment décisif avec cette main en bonux, détail qui n'en est point, élément très important, les doigts sont prêt à attaquer le piano...

Leica, bon truc pour le budget ça... T'as pas meilleur temps de garder tes sous pour un bon voyage ?

c'est meugnifique ça, Alain.. après moins de 6 mois de pratqiue du labo tu as des densités et contrastes de peau dignes d'un tirage pro... Ajoute à çela une excellente composition opposant les lignes dures de l'instrument à la rondeur des bouilles chantantes... c'est de la photographie parisienne humaniste de qualité, il y a des références derrière toi...

Juste pour pinailler, peut être pas assez fermé, le haut, un petit coup de burning supplémentaire...

Very interesting composition! Your flourish is evident through inclusion of only the playful hand of the pianist and its effects on so many people's faces. Terrific tonality in black and white.

Congratulations on the new M6. The summicron is very visible through the delicate yet sharp photo. I am glad that you are processing yourself. Bravo! (Are you printing also?)

Tu veux dire que tu avais piqué le M6? je vois que tu marches sur les traces de nono.. retour à l'argentique avec le leica et le lomo... interessant;)

cette photo me rappelle les histoires qui me racontaient ma mère et ma grand mère lorsqu'il y avait encore les chanteurs de rue dans paris dans l'immédiat après guerre et qu'ils vendaient les paroles et les partitions... bravo!
