At the end of the Canebière (the most kwnown street in Marseille), protected by Saint Jean and Saint Nicolas forts, the Vieux Port (Old Port) is among the most famous sites of Marseille. Every morning stands here one of the most picturesque event in Marseille : the fish market. Fishermen sale very fresh fish, just taken out of the boat ! But there is more yachting boats here than fishing boats ! Boats cruise from here in Marseille bay or in the calanques of Marseille. You can also cross the Vieux Port thanks to a very famous ferry boat. On the east quay (the one you can see on the photo) stand the townhouse and the Panier, an old popular district. East quays are surrounded by Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica and have numerous bars and restaurants. This photo was taken at the end of the day, while the sun was setting down, giving beautiful colors to the buildings on the quays.
