Photographer's Note

ridesmaids or fairy chimney
these rocks capped with large stones are a known erosion phenomenon; on this site it is a sedimentary layer of fluvio-glacial origin which forms these columns surmounted by a rock cap more resistant to erosion.
the legend says that it was the young girls of the villages who were petrified because they danced too late in the night until the next day which was Lent.... the site is called the ballroom of the capped young ladies!
