Lac Blanc reflections, a photo from Rhone Alpes, South

Photographer's Note

Lac Blanc is a popular destination for day hikers coming from Chamonix. You can take a cable car halfway up the mountain and then walk the rest of the way. This is the view from the lake across the valley to the rock spires and glaciers of the mountains near Mt Blanc. On the left is the Grandes Jorasses, in the centre is the spire of Dent du Geant, and on the right are the needles of the Aiguilles de Chamonix.

There were many people here. Not surprising on a beautiful sunny day like this.

Hello Vincent,
The rough peaks are spectacular and are beautifully reflected in the lake. The green patches of the nearest rock provide a fine contrast to the blueish mountains, and the people standing there give us some sense of dimension and also animate the view. The photo is very sharp and clear and well taken.

Those mountain peaks are very sharp, and they are repeated well on the lake reflection. Really wonderful place high up on the Alps. Good to see many people over there to give some scale to the foreground.

Hello Vincent,

I can see that you thought about this composition, which is really good! The lake f/g, with its slightly blurred reflections, make a super introduction to the greater images of the sharp mountains, in reality!

The single figure is important to the composition and scale and is strongly placed in the frame.

An amazing view of the bluish peaks in front of the clear sky. Their reflections in the calm water are fantastic too and the rocks in the middle add a great contrast to both the fore- and background. The people are a nice bonus too. Very well done.

Hi Vincent,

Fantastic symmetrical reflections of the snow capped peaks with good sharpness and the odd hikers and tourists on the far shore and small hill that add scale. A similar spiky mountain in Norway was called the trolls' teeth. Tfs!

Hi Vincent,
what a beautiful scene here. The panorama is amazing itself, even though the light is challenging. I like the green island which separates the snow covered mountains from their reflections in the lake.
People are dotting the scene but they ate not disturbing but adding some life and scale marking.

Happy New Year! This is a beautiful mountain view. The water in the lake is so calm, and the color is lovely, too. I like how there are three different parts to this photo: the lake in the foreground, the rocky terrain in the center, and then the mountains in the background.
