Photographer's Note

This is the ceiling of the Fourviere Basilica in Lyon, which was begun in 1872. The church is on the top of Fourviere Hill and is visible from much of the city. The interior of the church is covered with intricate sculptures and mosaics, mostly in gold and green colours. What look like paintings on the ceiling are mosaics. The amount of work that went into creating this masterpiece is beyond comprehension. This is definitely one of the highlights of Lyon.
