Notre Dame de Vouise.
Ta statue domine la ville.
Tu la protèges, tu la surveilles.
De tous les coins de rue, de toutes les fenêtres,
on te voit immobile et fière.

Ce soir, j'étais dehors dans la nuit.
Je cherchais la lumière.
Notre Dame, pleine de grace,
tu t'es illuminée pour moi.

(voilà un moment que je surveillais cet instant presque mystique. Pas facile à capter. Un solide pied est nécessaire. L'image n'est pas parfaite mais l'objectif n'était pas idéal non plus)

Notre-Dame of Vouise.
Your statue dominates the city.
You protect it, you supervise it.
From all the corners of street, from all the windows, one sees you motionless and proud.

This evening, I was outside in the night.
I sought the light.
Notre-Dame, full with grace, you illuminated yourself for me.

(here is a loog time that I was waiting this mystical moment. Not easy to collect. A solid tripod is necessary. The image is not perfect but the lens was not ideal either)

Hey Bertrand,

fantastic stuff, I usually dislike moon shots because to me the moon holds no interest and unfortunately so often, the moon is the prime subject, and somethimes the ONLY subject in a shot. How boring! Bit you did a great job of using the moon in a way to raise the interest level here. The moon is a beautiful background for this statue, providing the only light in an otherwise very dark night.

la qualité n'est peut-être pas excellente, mais quel moment !
As-tu beaucoup recadré car la Lune est monstrueusement grosse?
Bravo pour avoir su rester aux aguets et ainsi prendre cet instant de grâce.

Doesn't work for me. The moon is unnaturally gigantic and I really don't like that black rim (at the bottom) around it. Hope you don't get offended by this.

Fantastic shot and worth the wait by all means. I agree with Raful that on it's own the moon only has limited interest but you have made something different by capturing the monument.

Bonjour Bertrand,
quelle coïncidence, je viens juste de poster une photo du même sujet tout rond !
Très bon choix de cadrage mais la qualité finale est moyenne avec surtout une grosse partie crâmée. Pour éviter trop de flou sur ce sujet, comme on a un pied, je conseille de fermer bien plus le diaphragme.

Excellent composition. I like such moments very much. Unfortunatelly the Moon sets over chimneys in my town ;). Next time try to borrow a better lens. I used Sigma 70-300 very short, disgusted with the quality. After that I bought my Sigma 100-300/4 and it is a completely different definition of astrophotography ;).

Suer bien vuca, Bertrand - une scene tres forte avec cette lune...enorme. Extrardinaire. Et voicla ou le 5D demontre toute sa superiorite, enfin sa specialite disons (pour ne as offenser nos confreres de chez Nikon).

Hey Bertrand!
A well worth try! Indeed, a nice glass, but not for a 100% crop at open wide aperture. A tripod sure would have lowered your ISO rating by at least one notch (not to talk about stopping down the aperure), but then again, it's better than not taking it at all (just think of the same situation with a SLR camera...).
I think that against all this technicalities, you got a very nice and dramatic composition, something that we see from time to time and wish we could have a camera to capture and share it. You did it, and you did it the best you could - and that's exactly what I appreciate here! To take the most of every situation and to make the best in order to share a rare moment!
Your framing is very good, off centering the main subjects to create an imbalance so to develop an additional subliminal interest. Smartly, you chose the open space to the right, so to fit with the flow of the stature's gazing directions, toward the darkness...
Well done, I like it very much!

Bonjour Bertrand, ce style sort de l'ordinaire et je ne sais qui de la vierge ou de notre satellite met l‘autre en valeur, j'aime le résultat pour cette image plus suggérée, je dirai même artistique, que détaillée, et de toute façon il y à des spécialistes pour le coté scientifique de ce genre de vue, la photo est superbe et démontre qu‘il n‘y à point besoin d‘objectif imposant pour obtenir un beau résultat, et vu sous cet angle Je comprends qu'on puisse se passionne pour l'astronomie, bien amicalement

I know the difficulty in such a kind of shot. Its amazing to se a solhoutee against moon light!!!
This is arts at its best, though the shot may not be as pure as you or I or others wished, but it means a lot.

C'est un peu ça que j'essaye de faire aussi mais sans résultat, quoi que ma dernière Lune ne soit pas mal non plus..!
Un peu de bruit peut être Bertrand?...Je peu toujours essayer d'en faire autant bien sur avec mon Sony..! Un nouvel achat peut être....On en parle ce week end..!

Effectivement, cela ne doit pas être facile de capter une éclipse de vierge :-)
D'abord, il faut en avoir l'idée, et ensuite, il faut se livrer à un tas de calculs savants sur la position de notre astre voisin pour déterminer LE bon momement :D et heureusement que la statue de la vierge elle, normalement, elle ne bouge pas trop...
Le cadrage est impeccable et la réalisation manque peut-être un peu de piqué, mais c'est peut-être comme tu le dis un priblème de qualité de matériel.
En tout cas, et je pense que c'est le principal, l'idée est très bonne et le message passe bien à la vue de ton image.

je n'avais pas encore remarqué que tu avais un EOS 5D, un petit bijoux. Et dans les mains du bon photographe que tu es, il va faire des ravages.
J'ai tenté moi aussi des photos de lune, mais elle était tropo claire, les résultats n'ont pas été bons.
Ici, la cadrage estr nickel avec cette effigie en silhouette.

Salut Bertrand, elle est vraiment magnifique cette photo, ce que je préfère par dessus tout une nouvelle fois c'est l'association de ton poeme a la photo présentée, ça renforce et confère une émotion toute particulière au cliché ... surtout qu'en ce moment tout n'est pas rose dans mon cercle proche, l'heure est a la prière et cette photo (que j'ai déjà vu pas mal de fois) m'a ému ce soir
