The Meandering Dordogne, a photo from Aquitaine, West

Photographer's Note

Imagine the peacefully beautiful Dordogne River on one side, and stunning stone houses with bright colored flowers perched along a cliff on the other side. This is what you get when you visit this region of France. It is extraordinarily picturesque. Grab a “fougasse avec fromage chèvre” from the local boulangerie, a fine bottle of wine, some fruit and go have a picnic by the banks of the Dordogne. You will never forget it.

This image was taken from the beautiful fortified 12th century cliff top castle of Chateau de Castelnaud. We were cycle touring in the region back in 2002 and this was one of the places that we passed on our route.

Hi SPiros, perhaps there is a little bit of blue in the image...but the resutl and the image is very good with a very intersting POV...high POV!

Your POV at the cliff is excellent and I like the view down at this nice landscape.Good depth
caused by the river and the second row of mountans in the distance.Good colorcontrast and the bridge ia nice element in your composition.

I have been to the same place and crossed the same bridge many years ago. It is a beautiful country and the region is excellent for gastronomy. I like the vertical POV over the river and the way the bridge was diagonally placed. Very nice colours and good sharpness. Well done.

A beautiful capture from a lovely vantage point Spiros. Good sharp colours. The pov here is simply superb. The lights are managed well. Good pov and dof. A very nicely composed image

I agree with you Spiros. The Dordogne region is one that should be seen, a beautiful area. We saw many cycling groups from all over the world touring there. Wonderful scenery like this is commonplace and you have shown it at its best. The curve of the river and diagonal of the bridge are a great addition to the composition. There is a slight blue/magenta tint which is easy to remove.
