Photographer's Note
In 1065, William the Conqueror besieged and burned the castle of Dinan. A century later, the city is surrounded by stone walls. Locking the roads of the kingdom of France and Normandy, Dinan is the medieval immense strategic importance: ducal town from 1283, the prosperous city over the years. In the military comes under the influence of the Dukes of Brittany Jean Le Roux and Jean II, added a vital economic size: Inland, the Rance to Dinan is a prosperous city in which grows the cloth trade and leather. In the fourteenth century, the monasteries have largely interest Ducal (Les Cordeliers, Jacobins), while Dinan is one of the main strongholds of Britain, under the leadership of Duke John IV. The dungeon of the castle of Dinan is reminiscent Solidor tower of Saint-Malo, built some ten years ago.

Hi Valerie,
I know I repeat it under every your shot: the white sky is terrible, but except for that the photo is very well done. Nice POV here with this old street packed with old architecture. Would be a really picturesque view.
Nice catch

Bien cordialement,

Bonjour Valerie,
I remember well this street which goes up to the town from the river below. I spent few days here camping by the river and climbing this street to reach the town... if I don't remember wrong just after the curve of this photo at the right there is a small nice restaurant where I dined once...
So I really love this enchanting town and your very good photo which brought back the memories of a wonderful holiday I spent in Brittany in 2000. It's a lovely perspective you have chosen and the presence of those two persons makes the photo more alive. Fine colours and clarity too.
Merci pour le partage,
Amicalement,

Hello!
Very nice composition here. I really like how you've captured several centuries of architecture here. I also like how you've boosted the few colors that are here that as a nice contrast to the stone. Nice photo
Sincerely,
Kate
