Photographer's Note
Very famous landmarks, but shown with a twist
The main and most distinctive feature of the world famous Louvre Museum is the glass Pyramid located in the centre of the Cour Napoléon. Opened in March 1989, the Pyramid serves as the entrance for the main exhibition hall of the museum. The pyramid was designed by famed architect I.M. Pei.
The scale of the Louvre Pyramid is quite impressive. At the base, the pyramid of glass and steel is nearly 100 feet wide; the massive sculpture soars 72 feet, towering above the visitor promenade. Nearly 800 diamonds— or triangle—shaped panes of glass were specially designed to let in the perfect amount of the light to the visitor center below.
In 2011, Maybach, the official partner of the Louvre started an initiative, to have, over 3 years, showcase a series of sculpture installations featuring work by internationally renowned contemporary artists and sculptors on the presentation area beneath the glass pyramid. It was be the first time since the glass pyramid was built, that the area will be used for the installations of works of art.
The showcase started with the sculpture by the leading British contemporary artist Tony Cragg, which was exhibited here until October 2011. Tony Cragg’s sculpture "Versus" pictured here under the glass pyramid, was produced especially for this exhibition at the Louvre.
I composed this picture of "Versus" with the Pavilion Sully (named after Maximilien Sully, 17th Century French statesman)of the Museum as seen through the glass of the pyramid.
In the words of a critic - “Cragg's sculptures seemed to always be in dialogue with the world about them, and the objects that move in that world. Cragg’s sculptures are always a merging of two, maybe three or more inseparable organic bleeding forms, so the contemporary deformations compromise the identities of the otherwise perfectly whole and complete 17th century sculptures. Cragg’s pieces force us to question the solidity and the boundedness of what surrounds them. Only at the Louvre, would such risks be taken to create an inventive constellation of connections that dare to bring its treasures alive”.

Hello Angshuman,
A creative photo of modern sculpture pitted against the reflections of the beautiful old building. Well thought out and executed to create this impressive image. I will Google to know more about this modern sculpture, it looks kind of intriguing to me. Well taken and thanks for sharing.

Hi Angshuman,
The sulpture is helping to frame the scene. The reflections on the glass of the pyramid are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and the colours of the reflections. The quality of the light is bringing out the beauty of the colours. Have a nice day.

Bonjour Angshuman
J'aime beaucoup le contraste entre le moderne et le classique dans cette composition. J'aime aussi la distance qu'offre la pyramide entre l'oeuvre et le musée.La lumière est spectaculaire.

Hello Angshuman,
The diamond shaped glass panels form an interestingly patterned layer between the sculpture and the palace, between new and old, between red and yellow. You made a well thought composition using these contrasts excellently in an artistic way and technically faultless.
Kind regards,

hello angshu,
Very creative photo combining three famous objects - the pyramid, Louvre entrance and the most eye catching this red sculpture. And the bright blue sky have an important part too.
I was in Paris in 1980, so there was no pyramid yet and I am not sure if I would like it. For sure, I must come one day and convince myself.

The use of the "iron fence' is such a great idea as part of the picture, inviting the eye at the same to explore further beyond on the building but the point of interest is still on the stunning red sculptures. The deep colours and detail are simply awesome which contrast beautifully to polarised blue sky. Sharpness and clarity are great. Wonderful shot TFS

Hello Angshuman,
Striking warm colour contrasts between the blue sky and red sculpture at right. Good sharpness and the triangular glass panes of the pyramid add distinctive repetitive patterns. The crowds in front of the building provide scale and animate the scene. Tfs!

Hi Angshu,
great presentation squeezing several objects in one frame. The pyramide is indeed something very special there especially when one see also the second inverted pyramide.
You had a fantastic light over there -the blue sky goes so well with the red sculpture.
Beautiful work,

If you are searching original post from Paris you are doing it well, , sculture at the front and museum at the back
Good also the election of the adecuated title along with the well frame flag
Well done, congrats
Maria
Read about Didi, you know, to avoid people waiting long time to enter by the piramide is better to enter by Rue de Rivoli entrance and go out using the piramide, good quick food stands in that way
Thanks for the information about my Oxford capture, change the title, answer your note
