Photographer's Note
Well, it was not sunset even if the sun was rather low. I just shooted the silhouette of the "Institut de France" yesterday night and when adjusted the gama balance I found this really nice result instead of the quite dull original tones.
I have few pictures like this with harsh exposure conditions which turned incredible when trying to adjust gama balance... The place is located in front of the Louvre palace, but on the other side of the Seine river.
So, I decreased the gama balance at about 20%, used my coolpix 5700 default setup in Neatimage and add a little black framing.

I guess it's time for the "Institut de France", the second one I see those day.I do like this one, the way you choose to isolate dthe dome, allowing us to also see some Parisian roofs. nice catch. Very nice in fact.

Good tip, the result is indeed amazing. Still, doesn't look too unnatural. I mlike your choise of the large dark bit at the bottom. it's nice to also see the silhouets of the small antennes. Breathtaking photo!

Il est possible aussi d'utiliser le réglage gamma de Microsoft Photo Editor, petit logiciel livré avec la plupart des ordinateurs, cela remplace parfaitement le filtre Cokin.

Somewhat infernal photo, especially with those cut trees. I've never seen Paris photographed in such way. Impressed.

Very nice shot! The sky is vers appealing and the light, coming from the back of the dome surprising. Very good choice of composition. Bravo!

You were right manipulating your shot. Except this WS I enjoy also the perfect composition and framing which give a very well balanced picture.

extraordinary and majestic capture.
Very well play with the shadows and the little details are winners!
I also find very strong points the rays on the center of the screen.
I would try not to put the temple in the center of the picture though....

Strong and well-defined shape for sillhouete. Also like the light looks as if eminating from the back of the building.

I'm glad you tell us how you got it that beautiful... Not everybody would be that honest. ;o)
Well, it is beautiful, even if, again, you centered your main subject. But it pleases my eyes a lot and that is one of my criteria.
Great work Steven, while taking the picture and also in the digital darkroom!

Absolutely stunning colours and a great silhouette. Interesting to read how you achieved this result. Now I am curious about the original version ;)
There will always be the discussion on the subject being in the middle. In this pic it works quite fine, soo good composition. Despite the digital darkroom, it is the result what matters and you have done wonders.

salut Steven,
ta photo me laisse partagé. ;)
Bonne journée,
Loïc
