small information on this bridge:
The construction of the Bridge Alexandre III was decided in 1896, because of the difficulties of circulation, the creation of the station of the Invalids (1893) but it is especially the prospect for the World Fair which started again the project. Symbol of Franco-Russian alliance, the first stone was posed by the tsar Nicolas II of Russia, wire of Alexandre III. It was completed in 1900 and was inaugurated at the same time as the World Fair. The Bridge Alexandre III, classified historic building in 1975, symbolizes the decorative spirit of the Beautiful-Time. It is an artistic testimony very characteristic of architectureaux arts of the end of the 19éme century. With the Large one and the Small Palate, it is one of rare works of monumental town planning which survived the universal expostion of 1900. It is the broadest bridge of Paris.
