painting on glass
Of all the richnesses whose the town of Montfort-l' Amaury the ornament of stained glasses of its parish church honours is one of those which holds to the visitors the most unexpected surprises. Whereas about 1540 the taste for the canopies in greyness is essential in many churches of France, the stained glasses of theSaint-Pierre church burst contrary to thousand colors. Among the 37 old canopies, several announce themselves by the use of painting to enamel, a process tested by the painters and glass makers of XVIe century which allows the development of many details. The iconographic reading doubles here pleasure of observing technical refinements.
