Photographer's Note

On the bank of Seine close to the Eiffel Tower is a memorial over victims in the war in Algeria. Maybe some other colonial war too, i do not know enough French.

From Clochette I got some help with the language, "suppletifs" means locals who fought with the French forces as a supplement to those.

The memorial consists of three stone columns and each one of these has a LED-display with a scrolling text about the events of war and the victims. The three bands of text has the colors of the Tricolor.

It has a background of a busy street, some big trees and a house. That makes it allmost impossible to get a good picture in daytime but when I passed it in the evening I tried a night version with only the text. Exposing for the text made the background all black. I looked back in my file and found that I used spotmeter, compensation -2 resulting in 1/250 and f4,5 at ISO 100.
