Divine lights I, a photo from Centre, Central

Photographer's Note

Until September 23 2006, you can come to Chartres to admire the illuminations of fifteen important buildings of the city. I am located in front of the Western frontage of the cathedral which is drawn up, vertical in the center of the city, projecting the silhouettes of his ornaments towards highest of the skies.
Luminous projections are assisted by computer, the rays marry the shapes of each sculptures of the stone.
Do not miss especially the lights feast which will proceed 22 and 23 september 2006.

Bonjour Didi,
Toujours très agréable pour les yeux tout ce qui et lumières sur des édifices.Dans ce cas ci c'est très bien réalisé.J'aime beaucoup les sons et lumière dans les châteaux le soir,en France c'est très courant,celui de Blois avec la voix de Robert Hossein est magnifique.

cette photo me fait penser à un tableau. C'est bien pris et ton cadrage rend très bien. C'est vrai que ce genre de monument mérite d'être de la fête quelques jours par an et le fait de les illuminer les met vraiment bien en valeur... A Lyon, c'est autour du 8 décembre que l'on peut admirer ce genre de prouesse. amicalement

Wow, what a sight, Didi - incredibly beautiful. When I saw the thumbnail I thought you had captured some reflections of the sun, but now I understand from your note that these lighting effects are computer assisted. But it's still very impressive - I've not seen anything like it before. I shall be in Paris in September so will try to see if I can fit in a quick trip to Chartres to see these beautiful effects for myself. What times of the day can you see the lighting like this? PS: I was so taken with the photograph I almost forgot to comment on its technical attributes. I don't know how difficult the control of the light was when you were taking this, but your exposure is perfect, and you have composed it well with the corner of the house in the bottom left to give it scale, and lots of interesting detail in the photograph.

Me gusta mucho esta foto, la iluminacion asistida por computadora es algo nuevo para mi y me gustan los resultados en la fachada de la catedral. Te felicito por esta excelente fotografia.

A striking idea to blend these colorful projections with the old architecture of the cathedral, and a good photo you made of this, Didi. The interplay of façade details and the shapes and colors of the artwork makes for a photo that keeps the viewer interested for quite a while. Also well handled from a technical perspective, good exposure and judicious framing.

Je ne pense pas que ce soit évident de faire ce genre de photo, vu que les motifs reproduits sur la façade de la cathédrale changent souvent. Ici, cette prise de vue a été prise au bon moment. Très bien vu!

Originale pour le moins ! graphique et colorée pour le plus ... L'image , de grande qualite ,tire bien parti de cette belle manifestation qui doit attirer bien du monde !

L'effet de vitrail projetté sur la façade dela cathédrale est saisissant. Les couleurs sont jolies mais manquent un peu de vivacité, peut être du à la couleur grise de la pierre qui sert de toile de fonds. En tout cas, c'est magnifiquement saisi en terme de cadrage et trés original.

Une image qui ressemble variment a une peinture abstraite.
L'oeil ne sait plus par contre ou se jeter tellement les sujets sont nombreux c'est peut etre un de ces defauts je pense le seul d'ailleur.
Pour ce qui est du reste cela reste tres artistique

Prendre un tel cliché ne doit pas être évident pour peu que les lumières changent assez vite. Ici les couleurs sont superbes.

What a "divine" spectacle indeed; it must be amazing to see this for real. I think it was a good idea to zoom in close for some detail, as this shot has a lot more impact than the one in the WS, although that is good too. It must have been difficult to find a place for your tripod among the crowds.

Bonjour Didi, this is such an unusual view of Chartres Cathedral, and this is such a great idea to project its famous stained glass windows on its walls. Very good capture, and perfect light management.

This is quite an impressive facade and looks like a giant mosaic. The detail is impressive and there is a lot to see. The patterned architecture is nice and is well framed. Good information in the note too.

L'illuination avec les scènes projetées a l'air d'être un art, et la photo ici le rend bien. J'ai le sentiment que c'est une projection de vitraux sur la façade, et comme tu le fais remarquer les images épousent les formes, je dirais même plus (tintin) les éléments sont au bon endroit pour des tableux multiples.

Je suis passé à côté, et pourtant, compte tenu des illuminations, cette prise de vue ne pouvait pas passer inaperçue.
Bravo pour cette réussite. Il n'est pas facile de se trouver dans la foule, installer le trépied, attendre patiemment 6 secondes (qui paraissent parfois une éternité) ; mais le résultat est là.
