Photographer's Note

Taken on last years holiday to Normandy did not take many pictures here as thoughts were for the fallen may they all rest in peace

Omaha Beach Normandy American Cemetery has 9,387 burials of US service men and women. Of this number, some 307 are unknowns, three are Medal of Honor winners there are 33 pairs of brothers buried side by side. just a small part of 172 acre site!!

update 12/ 7 /03.-.Thanks to all for the comments, have re-posted, with van removed - I felt that I should not crop image anymore for any artistic reasons as I think it would devalue the subject matter.

wow, that's heavy.

perhaps this is a bit underexposed, your whites look too dark to me, but the repeating pattern and the thought of what this represents... heavy!

I'm amazed at how much difference removing the van has made and totally agree now that it doesn't require any further cropping. The woodland at the rear now works very well as an unobtrusive backdrop. I like the darker tones.

Very good composition! Did see the original as last, but it's definitely much better without the van!
