Photographer's Note
Statue of Adam Opel (1835-1897), much larger than life-size, in front of the former entrance of Opel factory, just opposite Rüsselsheim station.
Adam Opel started with a sewing machine manufactory in 1862 and took up production of bicycles in 1886. His widow took over the enterprise after his early death, together with their five sons, and gradually switched over to producing cars in 1899.
Opel was the european main brand of General Motors from 1929 until 2017.
