Photographer's Note

Shot taken from a refuge called Kuhroint Hütte (1420m), after a steep climb of over 1000m starting from the monastery of Sankt Bartholomä. Kuhroint Hütte is a place for resting your tired feet, a place for refreshment and food, and also a place to enjoy the view of the second highest peak in Germany - the 2713m high Mittelspitze in the Watzmann Range.

The Watzmann is one of the deadliest mountains in Europe, consists of three separate summits: Hocheck, Mittelspitz, and the Sudspitz. The Watzmann Haus, located at 1928 meters on a ridge above the tree line, is a refuge for climbers for over 150 years. That's the place to stay if you plan to scale to the top.
