Photographer's Note

A steep winding road on Corfu island leads us to the top of a small Lakones village. Here we can find some old country architecture surviving against the rush of the modern villas. Population in the past lived on growing the local olives kalamonas - a cut knotted trunk of such you see next to the house wall.

One is tempted to call this picturesque but I think living in such a house isn't as agreeable as living in a town house - although the surroundings here are much more beautiful. I like the chosen point of view very much and the greenery with it's natural colours around the house very much. Well, let's call it picturesque ... ;-)

Nice photo with great light and colours. I guess I never see photos from Corfu like this one here. It must be really far from the tourist development. The architecture is not so different from ours here. Good capture!
