Photographer's Note
The H. Monastery of Gregoriou was founded in the second half of 14th century by St. Gregorios, a disciple of the famous hesychast St. Gregory Sinaita.
It is one of the smallest on Mt. Athos.
Since 1974, when the community under the present Hegoumenos Fr. George was established there, it flourishes with more than 80 monks, books' publishing and missionary activity both in Greece and outside it (especially in Congo, where it supports the Orthodox mission). (The building on the background was built a decade ago.)
