Η Πατρα στην αρχή του 20ου αιώνα ηταν το μεγαλυτερο λιμάνι προς την δύση και επειδη η γύρω περιοχη παραγει πολυ σταφιδα και ελιές, ολα αυτα τα προϊοντα διακινουνταν απο την Πατρα
Ετσι λοιπον γνωρισε και βιομηχανική αναπτυξη η οποια και κράτησε μεχρι το τέλος του αιώνα
Τα τελευταία χρονια οι βιομηχανίες αρχισαν να κλείνουν και εκατοντάδες ανεργοι δημιουργήθηκαν
Η Πατρα περασε απο μια δύσκολη περίοδο ανεργίας αλλα και αλλαγης προσανατολισμου απο βιομηχανική πόλη σε μια πόλη με εμφαση στο εμπόριο τον τουρισμό και τον πολιτισμο
Ετσι μεγάλα κτίρια παραμένουν ακόμα στην παραλία της σαν απομεινάρια της βιομηχνικής περιόδου
Βιομηχανίες οπως η Pireli η χαρτοποιία η Πειραϊκη Πατραϊκή η Βεσο δεν υπάρχουν πια
Τα κτιριά τους μετατρέπονται σε πολυχωρους πολιτισμου θέατρα κλπ...
Εδω ενα τεραστιο μηχάνημα απομεινάρι απο την χαρτοποιία Λαδόπουλου πριν την επεμβαση του Δήμου
