Photographer's Note
The magnificently preserved 4th century BC amphitheater, with 14,000 seats, serves as the backdrop for this photo. Over the years, I've visited the ruins of Epidaurus several times, but in my previous visits, the site was crowded with tourists. This was a rare opportunity.
The athletic young teenager was doing a handstand at the center of the stage of the great theater of Epidaurus. A number of people surrounding her were snapping photos, and I joined them. On a personal note, a guard blew his whistle to discourage unorthodox behavior in the 2400-year-old ruins. I approached the guard and showed him the photo I had just shot with my iPhone 6 Plus, along with a National Geographic business card. I also told the man that the photo would appear in my NG Blog, he immediately changed his tune, encouraging the teenager to continue.

Hello Bülent,
That was an easily bribed guard ;-). It's a good photo of the girl (your granddaughter, right?) in this wonderful place. The environment couldn't be better, and the light, colors and sharpness are all excellent.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Bulent,
i can say that Epidaurus amphitheater is not the proper place to do and show someone his gymnastic capabilities like this young teenager.
I cannot say any more about the snapshot but if it was taking place in an other place would was a very nice and unique photo, taking this brilliant May day.
Excellent the quality of the image with the shade to completes perfect the whole scenery.

A different performance from what probably used to be shown in this arena in old times, Bulent, and the young lady attract other visitors to watch her.
Fine view of the ancient but well preserved amphiteatre.
have a nice weekend,

Hello Bulent,
Just goes to show the power of the press:-) Excellent capture of this young gymnast. I like the point of view and the presence of the long shadow. The few spectators sat on the stone seats opposite nicely round off the composition.

Hello Bulent
Now wasn't the amphitheater made for performances like this .....?
The stunning girl brings the old and well preserved ruins back to life, one can almost imagine how a performance must have been this thousands of years ago. Great snapshot and amazing what today's smartphones are capable of camarawise. Sometimes I wonder why I still bother to lug my heavy equipment with me :-)
I am ashamed to admit that I have passed Epidaurus several times without even thinking of stopping there. It lies on the way down from Athens to where my mother lives in Greece. Next time I will definitely plan a stop there.
have a great Sunday

Hello Bülent,
And so your granddaughter remains immortalized on the internet.
I believe her handstand provides a more complete picture of the amphitheater where actually the public went for a performance.
This reminds me that I did attend the performance of a play in Epidaurus in summer of 1978.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Bulent,
Training for the Olympics? The ancients Greece is than the right place to do so in the atmosphere of the old Gods of the Olympus. A pity there was no more public to see the performance.
Lovely picture.

Hello Bülent,
You had good diplomacy skills with the guard. The ancient Greek theatre makes a stunning backdrop to the athletic young girl doing a handstand. The shadow amplifies the effect and provides symmetry. Tfs!

Hello, Bulent,
I like this sunny scene for its depth (not only depth of focus). Both at the foreground and background, there is something interesting to look at. An excellent composition and very high quality despite the fact that the photo was shot with iPhone. Since 2011 I preferred to photograph with my Nokia N8-00 smartphone, but unfortunately it got out of order after a road traffic accident. Now I have bought new smartphone with better photo camera embedded in it. Quality of your picture proves that I was right.
Best regards,
Sergiy
