Photographer's Note

Domed church in the village of Oia on the island of Santorini (also known as Thira)

With it's narrow passageways, whitewashed buildings, and outstandings views of the sea, Oia is a fabulous place to stroll through on a late afternoon. The village is built on the steep slope of a volcanic caldera that comprises Santorini island. As a result many of the views are from high above looking straight down on Aegean Sea. Oia is a popular and dramatic place to watch the sunset.

For this shot, I wanted to spotlight the contrast of the white church against the deep navy blue color of the sea. I used a circular polarize to reduce glare on the ocean, but to the lower left of the image you can see uneven usage of it as the water is almost turning black there.

For post processing, I cropped and sharpened.

Regards,
Doug
