Photographer's Note

The Hungarian Parliament (Országház), one of the biggest parliaments in the world was planned in 1882 by Imre Steindl and built from 1885 to 1904, however the official ribbon cutting ceremony was held in 1896, on the 1000th anniversary of the settlement of the Hungarians in the Carpathian basin.
The whole building was entirely made from Hungarian materials and by Hungarian workers. It contains 40 million bricks and half a million carved stones. The outside is decorated with 90 sculptures and 40 kg of gold.
Length: 268 meters, width: 123 meters, height of the cupola: 96 meters, area: 18000 sq meters. The building has 27 gates, 29 staircases, 13 elevators and more than 200 offices.
