Photographer's Note
please take a look at the TE Beta version, its so much clearer and the view is excellent. BEAUTIFULLY ABANDONED.
This is what I call beautifully abandoned. These are some of my personal favorite type of scenes to capture. These scenes where you have a combination of landscape & abandoned subjects are the best.
To shake it up a little, this time we can include some old cars and trucks too. In the bg is the house which I tried really hard to get into, but it was locked up very well - couldn't get inside.
In the far bg are more of the large fjords which you have to drive around, surrounded my blasted volcanoes and mountains. Seriously, does it get much better than this? I honestly don't think so.
Driving the outskirts of the country and getting off the main hwy #1 is so worth the effort. Looking at the MAP feature, you'll see the approx location where I found this gem, driving the far eastern fjords.

Hello Craig,
Excellent composition with the abandoned house on the left and the two old cars on the right. Once again, it makes me wonder why people just left like this, even leaving their cars behind. The landscape in the background is amazing and the weather conditions were excellent too, I like the soft light and the white clouds in the blue sky.

Bonsoir, cher Craig,

Hello Craig,
Though I wouldn't say I like, when people leave there mess in beautiful places, I understand why you took this photo.
Best Wishes

Hello Carig ,
I know that some ones could be find this scene uninteresting ; but for me , too , there is a kind of beauty here . And the composition is excellent with three "ugly" elements in the Fg , the house n the two abandoned cars and the power post . If you'd walked a few meters , you could have captured the wonderful panorama with the little hamlet as a focal point . It woul have be superb , too , but not as striking than this one .
And the sky is splendid , too .

Hello Chris,
What a strange place. I have an unpleasant feeling there could be many places like this in Sweden too, where so many people have left for the cities in recent decades and many villages have more or less died. The abandoned house and the cars don't exactly make the scenery any more beautiful, but they provide interesting props for an unusual photo. I really like that you have gone so much off the beaten track on this journey.
Best regards,
Gert

HI Craig, thanks a lot for the useful map view first...and the pic is a mix of abandoned cars and house in a magnificent scenery, another unusual and different post from your Iceland trip. If you like abandoned places,Georgia is the best...buildings,industries and houses abandoned after the indipendence by Russia are everywhere. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Craig,
I have to say, you have found an amazingly beautiful place, especially with all the wild flowers and the composition of three works perfectly. But ... I cannot imagine why anyone would want to add the debris of abandoned cars in such a beautiful place.
Like you, I like to see the textures and the paintwork on old vehicles; it creates its own sense of art but, in the right place. This seems to show an utter disregard for the beauty of the countryside.
Sorry, a beautiful composition but for me, not a beautiful abandonment!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Craig
I had to look a little bit longer to your intriguing picture and think about your text. I agree with your idea. Often beauty is more manifest in contrast with something ugly and abandoned object can gain beauty in that situation. The strange thing with your excellent picture is the house on the left side that for me is disturbing in the scene. Maybe two abandoned cars is enough ugliness for me.
Have a good day. Groet Rob

Hi Craig,
The wideness of the area is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the house, of the andandoned vehicule of the water and of the mountains. It is really a beautiful area, have a nice day.

Hello Craig, You have here all- marvelous landscape, with a wide space, abandoned house and even abandoned cars. What a heaven for you! It is nice to go somewhere off the beaten truck, difficult without the car. Lovely composition.

Hello Craig
Even the house appears abandoned despite the connection to powerlines. The peeling paint and unmowed lawns contrast with the neater houses at far right in the bg. Tfs!

Hello
J'espère qu'ils ont enlevé l'huile les liquides et la batterie autrement cela pollue quelle vue de ces ancienne voiture abandonnées dans ce champs avec la maison le plan d'eau en fond splendide.
Bravo et amitié

Hello Craig,
The composition is great, but I just cannot understand why people choose to leave their cast-offs in the middle of such a beautiful landscape, probably because it doesn't cost anything and it's easy to get away with. Excellent long perspective across the length of the fjord. Perfectly exposed with superb colours and sharpness.

An attractive subject and a beautiful landscape, but the photo itself is a little sad, a pitty that the enviroment is so full of wrecks

Hi, Craig.
I can not understand how cars can be left abandoned in the middle of a landscape so splendid, I suppose there will be places for it, your composition is splendid, with those shades of greens so varied and a sky very pictorial.
A magnificent color, which gives the image a lot of chromatic richness.
Very good management of lighting and sharpness.
Well done. I like it.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

The abandoned cars are a bit spoiling the beautiful Fjord scenery, Craig, but gave a reality check to the surrounding. I know myself - I'd not show those cars.
Nevertheless, I enjoy the sight, green blue and grey dominating tones, wonderfully rendered.
Have a nice Friday,
Ike
