Photographer's Note
This was so much fun.
Instead of flying my drone 1500 feet high, what's different this time was the distance.
I flew it only 50-100 feet above ground level, but it was so far away. Perhaps the photo doesn't do it justice. Let me explain.
Look at the large mountain/volcano/glacier in the bg. In this photo I'm standing at its base, that far away. When I flew past the lighthouse, I turned the drone around backwards to face me.
I was fearful I would lose connection with the drone and it would fall into the ocean, so I didn't want to go TOO far. This was taken along the farthest eastern fjord's, far off the tourist main roads, on dirt roads, so I can be 99.99% certain it's the first time this lighthouse is shown on TE. it's too far away from the gravel road to photograph, and tour boats wouldnt go here either. It really is in the middle of nowhere, I love it! :)
I hope you enjoy this unique view looking backwards on the opposite side of the lighthouse. There are 2 more shots in the WS

Bonjour, cher Craig,
Observation de l'homme au sol !
La beauté sauvage du paysage est bien mise en valeur à travers cette composition.
L'on doit se sentir tout petit par rapport à l'environnement.
Un grand merci pour ces partages.
Amitiés.

Hi Craig
You see many poorly taken and composed drone photos. But this little series of Icelandic drone photos have been superb. Properly composed (Of course I don't know how many you reject!), good colour and great detail.
Cheers

Wow Craig, you go to any length to get a unique and fabulous photo! I'm glad your drone didn't fall into the ocean. The orange lighthouse seems so lonely in the middle of nowhere. Gorgeous green but harsh landscape.
Excellent image,
Kind Regards, Ann

Hello Craig,
The small village near where you were standing indicates that this was not totally in the middle of nowhere, at least from an Icelandic point of view. But it looks desolate enough to be off the tourist track. The orange lighthouse looks quite lonely and is a superb eye-catcher in this green and grey scenery. You drone photos continue to impress me, for the quality of the photos and for what you can do with a drone.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Craig,
What an amazing landscape with the relatively flat, green fields in the foreground and the impressive black mountains rising up in the background. The bright sun cast a magical light onto the landscape as well. The water on eithr side of the narrow land adds another great contrast. Very well captured.

Hello Craig,
You and your drone are playing games with us. ;-) Unless you told us where you were standing in the note, we would have no idea. This is another beautiful view. The space is so vast and the lighting is great, too.

Hello Craig, a drone certainly seems to be a ‘must have, when visiting countries such as Iceland.
You put yours to good use; these shots are marvellous, and as you say, these places would be so difficult to reach on foot. Which makes me wonder how the lighthouse was built?
Beautiful colours and excellent sharp focusing.
Regards Jean.

hello Craig, who was recently in Iceland, you or me, hahaha. Magnificent view from the drone. I have seen many signs that drones were forbidden. You were lucky that you could use your drone.
I have many nice pictures but I returned ill and haven't seen my pictures more carefully.
Still in bed with a fever

Hi Craig,
The distance between the lighthouse and the mountain is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the mountain. The light is making the colours to stand out. Have a nice day.

Hi Craig,
WOW! What a brilliant set of three amazing drone images! I love your note and can only be amazed at the courage you have in flying your precious drone so low and far over such a hazardous landscape as this! But, I suppose, there can't be any man-made structures here like pylons and overhead electricity cables to contend with.
I'm guessing that the cameras on these drones take a pretty wide-angle view (and I suppose that's not adjustable either - I mean, you can't zoom or anything like that). So your images have wonderfully strong perspective.
The light and colours are amazing and the details and sharpness absolutely stunning.
Fabulous!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Craig,
After reading your notes, I really understood the distance involved. Having tried to use a drone, I can understand how much, and why, you were nervous!
How exciting to take such a fine, descriptive photograph of somewhere totally unphotographed previously! You must feel a bit like an intrepid explorer!!
Yes, I agree, this was the best to use as the main post.
You must have a wealth of unshared shots ... this has been in your archive almost 2 years!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hi dear Craig
Your Drone shots are attractive but usual shots are also amzing too. Whenevre I see your Iceland shots, I think the color is so deep and dense there. Deep expsure setting makes so fantatsic description as such.
All the best and have a good day! Takero

Hello Craig,
With the drone, you managed to achieve extraordinary perspective that the usual tourist would not reach. Wonderful landscape pic. from above, distinct and very clear.
Cheers for that beauty.

Hello Craig,
As always, you show us something very unique with your drone. On an evergreen island, the orange colour was a good idea from the constructors of the light house.
Best Wishes,
Gy
PS: Thank you for your kind words under my latest picture. Sometimes I don't fit public taste with my shots, but I don't care until my 'regulars' don't miss the visit. :)

Hi Craig,
You sent the drone where no man has gone before! Incredibly beautiful place, where orange lighthouse stands lonely. Background mountain is so typically Icelandic. I like the light difference between waters on the glowing left and deep blue right.

Hi Craig,
a wonderful collection of spectacular photos.
The mountain has such an extraordinary shape and form. The lighthouse itself would be enough to get me excited but here in such a beautiful setting I am just speechless.
Wonderful effect and fantastic quality as well. I am surprised by the drone photo quality which you present. It must be a very good equipment.
I have quite limited budget nowadays so anything what is not absolutely necessary like a new camera has to wait. In fact my present camera is repaired with a tape around it, lens seems to befalling apart too and recently I lost some parts of the flash unit. Most important it the body though because the new versions allow to do so much more mainly with higher iso settings and higher dynamic range.
Anyway, breath taking capture. Very encouraging to visit Iceland!!

Hello Craig ,
The elevated POv with the drone gives us a splendid view of the tiny light house nestled in an amazing landscape . You've very well managed the back light , especially in this main post . But three pictures are also beautiful and interesting .
