Photographer's Note

Four hikers making their way across the beautiful landscape along the shore of a highland lake.

The light was very harsh here. So, I had to make some choices with regards to exposition. I ended up with this one. While the clouds are burned out, the details of the landscape are preserved.

Compositionwise, I went for a low angle in order to make the stone in the foreground balance the image.

The landscape is amazing! But like you said the sky is burned out. Before I read the note I thought it was some kind of pp work choice on the sky, as it looks fake, reminds me of kids wall paper. Well done considering the environment you were shooting in. The rock, reflection, foreground mountain with the people are all perfect. You couldn't ask for a better comp. Good composition, as we feel attracted by the curve of the lakeshore towards the mountains, and the peoples, who are giving a sense of scale.
You did the right choice as the foreground is the main interest.

Wonder if you select the sky and work the levels and contrast, if you will improve somewhat the appearance of the sky.

great reflection and landscape image. The foreground stone is an inviting subject as much as the human elements. Nice textures of the rocks and light management. I really like it!

Despite the burnt-out clouds, it is a good photo thanks to your clever composition and the reflections. In such cases, I sometimes crop the sky altogether and thus choose a tighter frame. I tried a ws. Hope you like it.

Its very nice to see Iceland here. This landscape should be a nice place for some hours of trekking. The scenery is beautiful! The lights was not playing to your team here, but its shadows on the green mount are very nice details. Nice inclusion of those people in the composition. Well taken!

Mikkel,
the composition is a great one. The stone at the lower left corner openning the round of the shore that leads into the image so well until to the hikers is simply great! The stone gives additional sense of depth. The colors on the slope are somewhat dark and not very appealing and the clouds as well as the sky seems to be overexposed but not to the point to compromise the overall impression of this shot that still is a very beautiful one.

Hi Mikkel, interesting choice of landscape view. Great detail of the landscape which reflects in the water. Like u said the sky is burned out although not that bad, however does not do justice to this stunning image although its reflection in the water is good. I like your thought process behind this shot and capturing the hikers makes the image come to life. Well done and TFS :)
