Photo of the famous and beautiful fall Skogafoss.

Skógafoss (pronounced [ˈskou.aˌfos]) is a waterfall situated in the south of Iceland at the cliffs of the former coastline. After the coastline had receded seaward (it is now at a distance of about 5 kilometres (3.1 miles) from Skógar), the former sea cliffs remained, parallel to the coast over hundreds of kilometres, creating together with some mountains a clear border between the coastal lowlands and the Highlands of Iceland.
The Skógafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in the country with a width of 25 metres (82 feet) and a drop of 60 m (200 ft). Due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a single or double rainbow is normally visible on sunny days. According to legend, the first Viking settler in the area, Þrasi Þórólfsson, buried a treasure in a cave behind the waterfall. A local boy found the chest years later, but was only able to grasp the ring on the side of the chest before it disappeared again.
At the eastern side of the waterfall, a hiking and trekking trail leads up to the pass Fimmvörðuháls between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. It goes down to Þórsmörk on the other side and continues as the famous Laugavegur to Landmannalaugar. Wikipedia

Photo de la célèbre et très belle chute Skogafoss.

La chute Skógafoss (Skógá étant le nom de la rivière, signifiant forêt, et « foss » signifiant en islandais « la chute d'eau ») est située sur la rivière Skógá dans le petit village de Skógar dans le sud de l'Islande. La rivière Skógá se jette de ses falaises et tombe de 60 m en formant une chute d'une largeur de 25 m. La chute est une des plus célèbres et des plus visitées du pays.
On raconte qu'un coffre se trouverait derrière la cascade, déposé ici par le Viking Þrasi Þórólfsson. Un enfant trouva le coffre quelques années plus tard, mais ne put en prendre qu'une poignée qui est aujourd'hui entreposé au musée de Skógar.
A l'est de la chute, une piste monte jusqu'au col Fimmverðuháls entre les glaciers Eyjafjallajökull et Mýrdalsjökull. Après, le chemin descend vers Þórsmörk et continue jusqu'à Landmannalaugar, un des plus célèbres et impressionnants sites islandais.Wikipedia

Bonjour Patrice,

Une belle photo pour un site qui m avait bien plu. J ai vraiment beaucoup aimé visiter ce pays, j espere y retourner pour terminer le tour et voir le NE.
J aime bien ce cadrage qui donne la puissance de la chute, soulignée par la menue silhouette se detachant bien sur le fond d arc en ciel.
Par hasard, as tu essayé de voir ce que ca donne en N&B. Meme si tu perds l arc en ciel, je pense que ca peut donner un resultat interessant.

J'ai souvent vu cet endroit sur TE. Il est toujours impressionnant à voir.
Ici, tu as parfaitement rendu la taille de cette chute à l'aide de cette personne minuscule.
C'est bien réalisé.

Good Morning Patrice,

A very powerful shot!
To look from the top, at this cascading water, is almost hypnotic. I much prefer to see water captured like this, than with a very slow shutter speed.
There are excellent contrasts of textures and light, whilst the details of the spray, the mist and the rainbow are eye-grabbing.
I like how you have used the perdon for both scale and human interest.

impressionnante cascade en effet...quand on voit la taille du perso...ça fait froid dans le dos! La lumière ne semblait pas idéale mais tu t'en ties bien je trouve, avec encore du vert sur les rochers.

What an amazing image! great depth and perspective in vertical framing and of course the falling water really combine to make a wonderful photo. the mist and small rainbow intensify the beauty, wise inclusion of human fig for scale reference. Light management is also marvelous. Great effort and well written notes. TFS

Une cascade maintes fois photographier mais dont je ne me lasse absolument pas,ce géant est superbe,belle idée d'avoir mis une personne devant,j'aurai juste fait une petite pose longue pour donner un peu de douceur mais c'est mon approche personnel car j'adore le faire,bravo.

La chute est impressionnante et la présence de la silhouette solitaire, minuscule en regard de la falaise, renforce la sensation de choc et de vertige que ce POV frontal nous impose. C'est très bien cadré, avec un soupçon d'ambiance mystique. La cascade ressort très bien sur le vert de la paroi moussue.

Superbe image de ces impressionnantes chutes d'eau ! Avec ces nuages de vapeur on ressent presque les gouttes d'eau. La femme au pied des chutes donne une bonne échelle de grandeur de ce monument de la Nature.
