Photographer's Note

Taken during my recent 3 days road trip with a few friends. The whole of Iceland is very much a spectacle in its own, but the northern shores stands out as something unique. The vast scenery and the long, unforgiving valleys continue to fascinate me. The picture was taken after a long stop in the town of Hofsˇs, where some locals had recommended us to try the hot spring pool. Perhaps the pool in the world with the best view? Situated right next to this fjord and some naked, cliff-edged islands it's easy to come to that conclusion. This is the inner end of Skagafj÷rur and you can almost spot Saußrkrˇkur in the distance. With its whopping population of 2,600, Saußrkrˇkur is the second largest town in Northern Iceland. Perhaps that says more about this part of Iceland than it does about Saußrkrˇkur. The surroundings are marvellous nonetheless.
