Photographer's Note
Another picture of Skogafoss, this time from above. In my first post from Skogafoss I mentioned that I had somehow managed to climb the 370 steps to the observation point at the top. It could be clearly seen in that photo. I don't know how I did it without suffering cardiac arrest, but it was worth it to be able to look down into the abyss and contemplate the potential demise of selfie-takers who went much closer to the edge than I did. The view was splendid, looking either south towards the coast or north, where the glacial stream flowed towards the cliff.

Hello Andrew,
Cardiac arrest or fainting from vertigo seems a reasonable choice in a place like this. For those surviving the steep trek it's an amazing view of the rapidly falling water, the cloud it creates and the birds flying far below. There is something looking a bit strange towards the lower left corner. Is that a bird too, or maybe a tourist's drone?
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Andrew,
Not for the faint hearted! Impressive view, well composed with an agreeable balance to it. Very good colours and some nicely rendered textural detail.

Hello Andrew,
A beautiful sight in the depths!
It's nice to be on a higher location than the birds.
You didn't want to go paragliding there?
Best regards, Paul

Bonjour Andrew,
J'aime beaucoup le point de vue. La plongée est vertigineuse et accompagne cette chute à merveille. La petite brume apporte de la douceur à tout ce vert.
Amicalement

Hello Andrew,
Some of the waterfalls along the Great Ocean Road are similar to this, but the black sand beach below is a giveaway that this area is recently volcanic. I think it was 5,000 years ago since the last lava flow in Western Victoria. I've seen postcards of the many waterfalls between Torquay and Apollo Bay but people rarely stop to photograph them. The gull is a great addition at left. Tfs!

Hello Andrew,
There is a great sense of satisfaction to have climbed to such a height, especially if you can look down on others who are considering making the climb!
I stared at you photograph for several seconds before I could make sense out of the image caught up in the spume from the cascade -doh! Once recognised as a gull, how could I not see it before!!!
You have done really well to portray the depth of this waterfall, the rock face plummeting almost vertically, the rapidly descending water rising again as mist and the birds, looking like dots, gliding across the abyss.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Andrew
You are a brave man getting this close...
The power of thundering water is absolutely mesmerizing and that's what I call a real 'leap' of such a drama and excitement that you have witnessed.
The tiny fig deep down makes a good point of focus giving this with a real sense of scale. Great timing, sharp in-focus, so beautiful and athletic in their travels and this is fantastic once in a lifetime catch. Just a pity the camera couldn't record sound. Congrats
Best wishes

Hello Andrew,
A spectacular view of the impressive waterfall and the rough shapes of the rocks, which have such a wonderful green colour too. Superb composition. The birds make a great addition too.

Hi, As I supposed in my note, it was possible to go up. What is 370 steps to have this magnificent view. But I am not sure if I would look in the abyss, I fear height. Spectacular composition, nice view of the flying birds.
Kind regrad s Malgo

Hi Andrew
This viewpoint is special and well-worth the trouble - and I'm of course glad to hear you survived... ;-)
The combination of static and dynamic, solid and ethereal works really well here. Great timing for the birds.
Best wishes
Kasia
