Photographer's Note
One last photo from this famous Iceberg location.
A few of you have mentioned how there are not too many icebergs here and talked about global warming effects.
Personally I don't think so. You have to remember that I took this photo in August, the warmest month in Iceland - that's why.
I also visited this same area in March, in the dead of winter and let me tell you its a VERY different place indeed. Everything here was frozen solid in March and I couldn't spend more than a few minutes before my camera froze. And the same place had dozens more Icebergs.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy this one last iceberg shot, and in the bg you'll see the glacier from side to side.
To answer Gert's question about Global Warming...YES, I do believe in Global Warming, i'm just saying there are limited Icebergs in my recent shots because its in August. And the black portions you see are cool because its Volcanic Ash.

Hi Craig
Great looking iceberg. Did you see the melting ice on an Antarctic Island.
Cheers

Hello Craig,
Its a wolf's head, rising from the water!
It's so easy to understand how ancient peoples developed stories and myths!
It is indeed a beautiful shot, fine details and a great sense of depth.
The blue/grey colours signify cold... despite the August date.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Craig,
I do hope the title and note doesn't indicate that you think global warming is "fake news", like the idiot in the White House? Of course calving icebergs and melting snow is partly a normal seasonal thing, but it happens more frequently now, and on a greater scale, and statistics tell us very clearly that the average temperature is rising much faster in the Arctic regions than elsewhere. The melting seasons start much earlier, and last much longer, than they used to.
As for the photo, it's a pity that this little iceberg is so dirty, but it's still a fine natural sculpture, and the scenery in the distance is impressive.
Best regards,
Gert

Hope the title is not just a wishfull thinking, Craig, because we all read about the melting glaciers around the poles.
Anyway, a marvelous sculpture of one big piece of ice.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

Hi Craig,
The shape of the iceberg is impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the iceberg and of the mountains in the background. It is clear and precise. Have a nice day.

Hello Craig,
This is a unique iceberg, and it does look very large. The shape is also interesting; it's like a piece of modern art. This iceberg also reminds me of NYC - after it snows here, the remaining snow and ice also turn black, but not from volcanic ash. :-)

Hi Craig
My hunch about the black tones on the icebergs was correct. It's volcanic ash. No way would I go there in winter. Even with an analogue camera I had in China, the batteries would stop working once it went below -5c, and I had to take them out and keep them inside my coat close to my shirt for 10 mins before I could use them. A magnificent natural ice sculpture. Tfs!

Hello Craig,
A great photo of this iceberg covered in volcanic ash. You can see that it was melting in the August weather, but it is still remarkable as well how much snow can still be seen in the backdrop also. Excellent close-up in a fine light. You asked about Vancouver City Hall, I haven't seen it yet, so I guess I should come back once more. :-)

Hello Craig,
Lovely view of the tip of this iceberg. I wonder which eruption the volcanic ash is from. 👍🏻👍🏻

Craig, that iceberg shape reminds a mushroom. The ash contained in the ice creates this black color on the white surface. The base of the iceberg is eroded by the seawater, it can collapse at any time. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hi Craig, an excellent close view of the iceberg, and what an amazing shape.
One always expects icebergs to be very clean, but we forget that they will include anything that was in the air or the water as they freeze.
I like that we can see a little of the background too.
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.

Hello Craig!
I'm looking at two icebergs in this moment: the first one is yours on the screen, displaying volcanic ashes and making a desparate impression. The second one is one meter higher on a calendar which my elder son produced for me, showing great shots of his Iceland tour in May 2019, and the best one is on the February sheet and was taken at Jökulsarlon.
What the hell are we doing, and what have we already done?
Regards from Rhineland, which had its first snow for this winter the day before yesterday

Hi Craig
Spectacular and very beautiful composition with this iceberg eroded at the bottom has to fall and that volcanic ash that covers part of its whiteness.
Very good management of light and details, in an environment where nature marks its power.
Greetings.

Hello Craig
Being that close to an iceberg must be really fascinating. Global warming seems to have lost some focus for a while now, in these times when the media is most concerned about the corona virus. Well, I hope we can manage and reverse both. The iceberg is like a sculpture and the volcanic ash is kind of surprising, but a nice addition. Fine work:) TFS.
