Trinity College

I’m visiting Ireland for a few days and here’s a first impression from the capital city of Dublin. The photo was taken yesterday, when the day started rainy and cloudy, but became sunnier and sunnier in the afternoon.

This is Trinity College in the heart of the city. Trinity College (Irish: Coláiste na Tríonóide, officially: College of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Queen Elizabeth near Dublin) is part of the University of Dublin and was founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I. It is one of the seven ancient universities of Britain and Ireland and the oldest one in Ireland. Seen here is Parliament Square with the Old Library Building in the background and the Campanile in the foreground. This bell tower was completed in 1853 and donated by the Archbishop of Armagh.
