Photographer's Note

The Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral Square) in Milan.
On the left stands the equestrian monument to Vittorio Emanuele II. The bronze statue by sculptor Ercole Rosa was placed in the center of the piazza in 1896.
Vittorio Emanuele II (his regency lasted from 1861 to 1878) was the first king of a united Italy since the 6th century.

The northern side of the square on the whole length takes the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, built between 1865 and 1877. It is one of the world's oldest shopping malls named after Victor Emmanuel II. It is Milans shopping "temple". Entrance from the Piazza del Duomo resembles a triumphal arch.
