A very optimistiv picture Lisa, as one side still get sunset light and other dark already.
A fabulous passage between Messina/Sicilia and Italia mainland, fine details and light on far side.

Hello Lisa,

This has to be an "Outdoor Still Life," carefully set up by a painter. As many times as I've visited Sicily, it has almost always been Taormina, with one visit on Sunday to Palermo. What treasures this island holds for people who can explore all the nooks and crannies — the cities, the lengthy shores, and the astonishing ruins. Giorgio Giacosa (ciakgiak) of course is a native of the island, possesses a great camera, the artistic Italian eye, and gives us a glimpse of his world. On a recent visit to the island, Jacques d'Abrigeon (jafadabret) also gave us a some lovely shots. Your photos, especially of Messina, help to reveal other aspects of the beautiful island.

Noice shot with a touch of creativity in the composition. The blue hour turned out to be your trademark capture for 2010. What have you got planned for 2011??
I would have thought that f/13 might have carried a bit more depth or were the pontoons moving slightly during the 52 second exposure.
Looks like a wonderful spot for a bowl of pasta washed down with a liberal drop of Falanghina.

I hope 2011 is a wonderful, happy, and healthy year for you.

I just look at the picture of you on your overview and the beer seems delicious. A very good way to celebrate the new year.
These 52 seconds of exposure are resulting in something special and wonderful. I am recently trying night pictures myself but it is a little bit colder.

you gotta love the blues!
lovely blue hour lighting you have here, i also love the distortion the camera lens created on the large circular base to the bottom right, looks cool.
the long skinny piers really give depth, and act as a false leading line, almost acting like a finger pointing out towards the mountains...its a great scene you've captured here.

A fine composition; I like very much the distortion in the foreground of the image resulting from the use of the wide angle lens. The tones of the 'blue hour' are beautifully rendered and contrast well with the warm lights. A very Happy New Year, 2011, to you and yours.

La composition de cette photo est remarquable. J'aime le rendu de l'eau avec la longue pose. La lumière détache les objets sur le quai de belle façon et l'heure bleue apporte sa magie à l'ensemble.

What beautiful blue! amazing gradation of the sky. the image is perfectly composed. floating piers look like leading our eyes to new days of 2011 to take better photo than last year.

Good start for the new year,
what so impressive are the deep blue color and the overall contrast it make to this image, it looks so stunning. Love the pov and composition with good leading line and great diagonals. wise inclusion of the tree trunk in bottom conner enhances the compo to great effect. Lovely glows on the horizon with enough dark areas of the sky which seem perfectly in balance. Excellent vivid colours and good clarity with superb sharpness. Well done, TFS

Beautiful blueour image. I like the light and the lines of it. I understand that it is impossible to get the the wooden pier on the water still but the unsharpness of the movement i found a little disturbing.
