Photographer's Note
A studio with an open door inviting us to come on in.
This is in the town of Taormina on the eastern coast of Sicily. I was attracted to this shop because of its' decorative look, for no other reason. And I liked the rather forlorn looking lion over the door.
Check the workshop for another interesting frontage.

Hello Jean,
An excellent capture of the entrance and facade of this house, which has so many fine details to discover, both ornaments on the building itself and details in the window and on the balcony. Well captured.

Hello Jean,
I'm not sure if it is possible for a lion to have a hangdog demeanour but, if it is, then the lion above this doorway certainly is blessed with one.
This is a remarkable building with a tiny window which seems to be filled with some stuff including glass bowls and the whole fabric of the place looks as though it is about to collapse. I suspect the façade was once covered in stucco or similar which has long since crumbled away.
Did you actually venture into this place? And, if so, what did you find in there?
And if this remarkable photograph were not sufficient, you regale us with another fine workshop photograph of a place suffering, perhaps, even worse decay! This building., however, does retain some of its stucco though most is heavily stained and I suspect suffering from water ingress.
Two delightful and very interesting photographs, each very well seen, taken and presented.
Fabulous!
Kind Regards,
John.

Old facades always an intriguing subject, Jean, as those always show how creative was the masons in old times.
Good perspective with beautiful details shopwn, a bit over-exposed atop, but despite this an interesting scene.
Have a nice new week,
Ike

Hello Jean,
Being attracted by a building's decorative look is not a bad reason for a photo. ;-) I also like the rough stones and design of the windows, and the lion is a charming detail. Both photos make me slightly sad to see such basically beautiful buildings in an obvious state of decay. Will there ever be money for a careful restoration?
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Jean,
Some slight evidence of over-exposure at the top of the frame, but that certainly does not affect our overall enjoyment of this very attractive façade. Excellent rendering of the colours and all that delightful textural detail. Lots to see and appreciate here.

Hello Jean,
This is a very attractive studio, especially because of its ornate brick work and the forlorn-looking lion.
It certainly looks as if it has belonged to an artistic person.
It must have felt very eerie to find the door open and the building abandoned!
Did you watch the programme about the Mediterranean, last night?
It showed some beautiful Sicilian villages which had been almost abandoned because of lack of employment.
Some of the houses had been given to African refugees as a secure place to live and the occupants loved them though employment would still need to be addressed!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Jean
The façade as a whole I find rather messy and not so attractive, but if you look at it, there are some beautiful details. As you wrote, the lion above the door but also the text below.
Excellent work
Have a nice day. Groet Rob
