Photographer's Note
Taormina is undoubtedly one of the Sicilian jewels. It is true that tourist overexploitation has led to an agglomeration of curious foreigners that shake the lives of the 10,000 inhabitants of the city.
Located two hundred meters high, on Mount Tauros, a splendid natural terrace, Taormina, the ancient colony Tauromerion, founded by settlers fled from the sacked Naxos in 403 a. C, was, razed by Syracuse, exalted by the Romans, and capital of the island for a brief period of Byzantine Sicily. From its capture by the Normans in 1078 until the eighteenth century, it was nothing more than a peaceful coastal town. Beginning in 1700, German and English writers such as Bartlett and Goethe, who embarked on inspirational circuits throughout Europe, stopped by Taormina. Even so, it would not be until 1866 when the railway joined the city with Messina, facilitating access for tourists from Northern Europe, some as illustrious as the German Emperor Wilhelm II.
Cradle of the rest of some of the most important writers of the twentieth century as Truman Capote, Tenessee Williams, Thomas Mann or Cocteau among others, and artists such as Greta Garbo, Cary Grant, Dalí, Orson Welles or rite Hayworth, Taormina has stopped be a place of reflection to be part of one of the axes of tourist exaltation of Sicily.
However, such are the visual pleasures that the city can offer us that it is essential to visit it. It is worth highlighting the Greek theater whose importance is evident in the later use that the Romans continued. But it is not the only jewel, Taormina would be nothing without the natural adornments that enlarge the theater; the panoramic view of the bay of Naxos and Etna in the background make the Taormina Theater one of the most recurrent postcards of our visit to Sicily.
Strolling through the streets of Taormina, full of typical Sicilian souvenirs, we will find reminiscences of the occupation of the crown of Aragon, such as the details of the Palau Corvaja or the Ciampoli of Catalan Gothic style, or flowery medieval streets, without forgetting the cathedral of Taormina, Il Duomo of San Nicolo, the communal village with its gardens, or the palace of the Dukes of San Stefano, one of the best examples of Norman architecture on the island.
------------------------------------------------------

Hello Luis,
A well spotted gem on the wall, probably easily missed if you are not observant. The two heads adorned with flowers are very original and the window is very nicely designed with the small pillar in the middle. The simple balcony across the street is nicely reflected and slightly distorted. It's a very neatly cropped photo with excellent colours.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Luis,
A very good capture of this window. The warm colours are very attractive, especially in this sunlight. The double arch and the two colourful heads on either side make this window even more special.

Hello Luis, a well observed window with its unusual design. I am fascinated by the two faces as they look down over the street.
One has to study the picture carefully to realise that the balcony is actually a reflection from across the street.
I love the colour of the stonework.
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.

Hello Luis,
A very interesting picture for Krzysztof.
The reflected window fits well in between the arches.
Nicely framed with flower pots with remarkably painted heads.
Looking upwards makes you discover special things.

Hello Luis, The tourists are the nuisance for the local inhabitants but also the source of the income. Fantastic windows from Taormina. Very original with this column and of course, the colourful sculptures on both sides. On the right face, there are even plants. fantastic detail.

Hola Luis,
From the thumbnail, I thought this was a beautiful, arched window in honey-coloured stone, but full size, there is so much more to see! I wonder how many of the tourists, which you mention in your notes, walk past this and never see it!
Excellent textural details to accompany the image details, all under a warm light.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi Luis
A warm image in its simplicity not lacking of interest though - an aged beauty of the facade and windows filled with vivid detail. Old but full of charm which gives much for the viewer to absorb. Clarity is brill with subtle shadow and shades, indeed a fine shot and your photo does it justice. Congrats,
Best regards

Hola Luis,
fantastic detail. The sharpness is so great that we can feel the rough surface of the walls. Very attractive window with interesting flower pots. But in addition you have spotted in it a great reflection of the balcony, which adds yet another dimension.
Beautiful window, well spotted and perfectly presented.
Excellent work,

Hola, Luis!
