Photographer's Note
Dawn in the Aeolian Islands: left Stromboli, right Panarea, viewed from Salina.
Panorama made from 3 individual slides scanned with Nikon Coolscan 5000 and stitched using Panorama Factory.
Taken at dawn at around 5.30 am. I got up three days in a row to get just the right light and position of the sun. Fortunately I didn't have far to go as this was the view from the terrace of the house where I was staying!

A remarkably well balanced and pleasing composition with lovely hues and textures. The perspective and pov are superb. the contrasts are well utilised and there's overall a superb level of composition.

Hi John,
Very nice sunrise picture. The soft colours are really nice and the composition is also very well balanced. I also like the panoramical frame. Good management of the stitching technique as well.
Nice job!

Hi John,
I love the simplicity of the composition, which is full of amazing, soft colour tones, and the two islands provide good contrast to one another, and depth to the image. The panaramic format works perfectly. Very well done.
Cheers Grant

Hi, John. The different light on Stromboli and Panarea gives a good sense of depth in your picture. The panoramic format is well chosen because it forces us to concentrate on the main subjects. The morning light is very well rendered.

Ciao!
Gran bel scatto...il paesaggio è veramente fantastico, la dolcezza dei colori pastelli mi piace moltissimo. E' quasi un sogno. Tutto sembra dipinto...

Great PP here to get this magnificent panoramic shot. Great colours and our eyes can bounce back and forth to each island. The horizontal presentation adds to a calm feeling. This deserves more than 20 points IMO. Well done.

Hi John,
this is truly amazing and i have to say thank you to remind me maybe the best holidays I've had. I've been to Salina a couple of times and I think it's one of the most charming place on earth. I always liked the feeling of the island, with its peace and silence and the chance to have breathtaking pov.
I like the colours in your shot, so warm and neautral..compo works very well with the 2 islands leading the eye towards the vastity of the horizon and the rising sun is just the icing on the cake..
Great shot indeed!
Thanks for sharing and have a nice we!
Ciao
