Photographer's Note
Sunset view looking out from beach at Pollara, an ancient partly submerged volcanic crater on the island of Salina, one of the seven Aeolian islands off the north coast of Sicily.
The rock on the horizon is Scoglio Faraglione and behind it in the far distance the islands of Filicudi and Alicudi.
The beach at Pollara became famous as one of the locations featured in Michael Radford's film Il Postino.

Ciao John,
I'm impressed by the great quality you managed to deliver here, with the great Fuji Velvia colours making the real difference. The soft mood, enhanced even more by the wave in the fg blessed by that magic light, makes the whole lot a very eyecatching picture.
Thanks very much for sharing it
Cheers
Igor

Bellissimo l'effetto dell'onda che arriva.
Viene d'istinto di indietreggiare per non bagnarsi.
Ottimo standard, come sempre.

John,
This is a great sunset shot! The lighting and colors are outstanding as is the sharpness and DOF. The long exposure gives you nice DOF and creates a nice effect on the moving water.

Hi John,
the moving water in the front in combination with the silent islands in the back give an amazing depth to it. Great colours, too.
Compliments, Chris

Hi John,
you sense of seeing the landscape and show it to us in most superb way is priceless. With this one you literally brought us sunset on waves. Fantastic POV with great dynamics, my eyes actually are telling my mind that this foreground foam is moving towards me with great force...and then going back, all the way to the horizon, to the rock. Amazing display of intense colours are just a top of the creme. Excellent. Simply excellent.
Kind regards,
Jeri

Hi John,
Absolutely beautiful, I would be very proud if I were to capture this. The 1/4 second of energetic action is perfect. I like the placement of the islands in the distance, their alignment reminds me of planets orbiting this central point. I like also the smooth colour gradient in the sky and the beautiful simplicity of the white frame.

Hi John
A minimalistic shot that works so well in my estimation. A little motion in the water ad the islands in the BG as a focal point.
Nicely done.

Strange scen you create by using a long exposuretime. I like the result with the sillouets of the islands and the strange stripes at the fg.

Hi John
another old film image...but what an image. The colors are just "Velvia" perfect.
I really like the way you have recorded the movement, instead of completely blurring the water you have chosen to freeze the crashing waves a little. Very well done.

Hi John. Incredible mixture of colours and light. Lovely PoV that brings us so close without getting our feet wet.poetic and dynamic at the same time. Regards. Klaudio.
