Photographer's Note
Classical view of Venice, with piazza San Marco flanked by the Campanile di San Marco on the left and the Palazzo Ducale on the right. The Bridge of Sighs (Ponte dei Sospiri) is visible on the extreme right and St. Mark's Library (Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana) appears on the left of the Campanile. Although everyone who has been to Venice has likely seen this view, I decided to post it because there is no abundance of such images on TE. The yellow crane on the barge doesn't quite fit the historic view, but it is descriptive of the transformations taking place today: a lot is being repaired and restored. The picture is taken from the ferry heading back from Lido to the mainland. Venice is a very, very busy and expensive place, especially during the peak of the tourist season.

Hi Roland
When a subject is so usual, you have to propose a perfect photo to distinguish yourself from the others.
And this is a perfect photo, with great light, colours, sharpness and composition.
Great job

Hi, Roland -
It is indeed a classic view, even if the crane behind the Bridge of Sighs also looks out of place. Very sharp, in fact maybe almost too sharp, but still very good. The polarizer also did its job without being obvious about it, as too often happens.
Now I have to go back there!

Hello Roland,
This image is spectacular for many reasons...most of which have already been mentioned in other people's comments...but what really impresses me is the sharpness. You have captured each detail of the architecture perfectly.
Bravo

Hello Roland,
You have captured the magical city very beatifully from the sea. it is a good panoramic view that shows the Campanile, the Ducal palace and the Bridge of Sighs all. It complements an image, Vivaldi and the Ospedale that I submitted recently. Together they give a much wide span of this miraculous city.
Warm regards from Virginia,
Bulent

A classic postcard Roland taken very well, the colours are beautiful and show Venice at its best.
The crane is not a problem, as you say, progress has to go on.You were fortunate in having a lovely day,the blue sky really makes the shot.
Good POV.
TFS,regards Jean.

Now this is a place that I would really like to visit one day, and shots like this show why. Classic view of the Ducal Palace and the tower, but the detail is very strong, allowing us to see everything almost as if we are there. Having a great cloud pattern in the sky never hurts either! Nicely done!

Hi Roly,
I had the chance to be there once and I have to confess that your photo does not show the reality;it`s more beautiful than that!:)
Sweet colors and light; that`s what I like a lot about it...and the compo,of course.
Cheers:)
Nelu
