ENGLISH: This photo of Mount Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri was taken from my favourite spot in Sorrento early one morning. I have probably bored you all senseless raving on about Naples. So I'll let the photo speak for me this time.

ITALIANO: la foto del Vesuvio e l'isola di Capri e' stata preso dal mio posto favorite a Surriento al alba. Probabilemente vi ho annoiato mentre parlando sempre di Napoli. Questa volta, lascio la mia foto a parlare.

Simple but effective and beautiful composition. It's cloudy but somehow the image convey calmness. Great pov and it has a good dof with sharp details. Very nice colors. Well done, tfs.

Excellent shot indeed: the blanket formed by the clouds covering the sky till the horizon is well seen and captured and the silhouette of the volcano in the distance stands out well against the yellow created by the setting sun.

A very fine picture. Sometimes a simple but very well taken image is actually a very strong image and that is the case here. Lovely colours and textures in the sea and sky and beautiful shapes of the volcano and island.

Eye catching contrast between the smooth waters and the sky covered by fleecy clouds
Maybe however the horizon line is too centered for my personal taste
I think that I'd choose to crop some of the bottom

Since I was in Sorento (5/1980), days and nights, Lisa - I know how variable colors on scenery changes by an hour...
Very good depth to far horizon, and the Vulcano dominates the skyline.
Fantastic smooth sea's, and those clouds - we call "sheeps".

Stupenda. Non facile di proporre un cielo che attira e ritiene l'attenzione, ce ne tanti di proposti su TE. Ma trovo questo splendido con le sue pecorelle.
Di più, mi piace questa copertura nuvolosa che ci copre e che così porta il nostro occhio verso il sfondo e l'infinito. La sensazione di spazio è grande. Bellissima foto con una qualità perfetta.

its obvious what makes this photo stand out, its not too often we get to see a cloud coverage like that!

Hi Lisa,
Not much landscape to speak of, sea and sky scape maybe. But wow that sky is so beautiful. One can never asked for a sky like this. It can only happen to you and you have to be there at the right time with a camera ready...and you did perfectly. Compositionally, I would have like to see you pan up more to get more of the sky and therefore would also avoid the 1/2 and 1/2 horizon and sky. the little mount break up the straight line of horizon perfeclty. Beautiful moment.

Hi LIsa,

Rare clouds pattern of striking beauty. The yellowish horizon also command attention, with the dominant of blue from which it offers a chromatic complement.

I have to agree with mister Wayne, as it would have been interesting to see more of the spectacular sky, so at the same time, you would avoided to place the horizon around the middle; sometime we don't have choice, but from your favorite spot in Sorrento, you must have had this option.

Is it a dust spot almost in the middle of the shot? God damn dust spot... :-p))

Hello Lisa,

At first look I was thinking it was one of the Eolian island, but in fact it is not so far. You perfectly got the mood of the moment with this shot. The pattern of clouds is wonderful and I like how you used it with the composition putting the volcano in the top corner.

Not bored at all since then, your pictures speak for themselves.

This gives a feeling of vastness that so scary ... with this set of tiny clouds and the colors are reflected, is simply spectacular, it has Leleges lights and shadows with the ISO low, capturing everything more clearly.

Firstly I thought you had come to Auckland to photograph Rangitoto, they sure look similar, love the blue tonings, cotton clouds, would have had more sky than FG to bring the horizon from the centre but it still looks real good.

A wonderful vision of blue - Mediterranean Sea, cloudy sky, and the dominating Mt. Vesuvius. Which reminds me of the Earth's explosive volcanoes and earthquake activity, as evident with the tragedy in Japan. And my related experience yesterday on the Island of Maui, seeking shelter upcountry to avoid a tsunami.

C'est vrai que cette photo parle très bien toute seule. J'aime ce qu'elle nous dit sur cette très belle nature à commencer par un ciel de légende suivi par le Vésuve majestueux et enfin par la mer aux beaux reflets.

è una veduta bellissima, infinitamente bella direi.. il cielo è spettacolare, non solo per le chiazze di luce chiara che dipingono le nuvole, ma per la loro forma a fiocco. il vulcano è mansueto come un gatto che dorme:-). A me piace molto lo spazio che hai lasciato per il mare, e al suo colore uniforme: mi ricorda un jeans scolorito. brava, bellissima foto!

Che scatto fantastico ! Cio che colpe lo sguardo evidentemente è il cielo con la textura delle nuvole minacciose ed arrichite del oro del oro del sole sorgendo.
Poi, è il contraste fra il cielo tormentato ed il calmo tanto liscio del panorama laggiù.

This is by far the most beautiful view of Mt. Vesuvius I have ever seen. And it is in your style of photo. And I love the serenity of this image. Contrasted by the "lion's mouth" It is difficult to imagine the true nature of the mountain from here. The image has a great depth, and overall color in light blue. I am looking at this image without a word. Everyday I find a new image which is very inspiring in your gallery.

With such beautiful skies you makes the viewer happy.
The ND-grad filter has done a good job, because the light is in a very good balance.
The open space make the picture nice calmness....You can look at this picture for hours and enjoying from it.
