Photographer's Note
Basilica Pompei

Hello Silvio,
Very nice impression of Pompei, that I visited many years ago myself. Great idea to put this column in the foreground, the sharpness is perfect to see all the centuries old details. A fine light and nice partly cloudy sky too.

Hello Silvio,
The column is well positioned on the vertical 1/3 axis at left. Good sharpness and textural details. The city ruins are extensive and take many hours to see properly. Tfs!

Ciao Silvio,
Bon samedi

Buona sera Silvio,
Marvelous DOF managed from the foreground sight of the big old column, than a good view to the ancient "boulevard" to the left.
A well premeditated POV, beautiful result.
Arrivederci,
Ike

Ciao Silvio,
Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona serata,
Ourania

Ciao caro Silvio,
A fascinating and informative note and a beautiful photograph to accompany it!
Your photograph has a wonderfully bold and imposing composition, the great foreground pillar dominating the frame while our eyes are carried back into the image along rows of lesser pillars and to the little group of colourfully dressed visitors and beyond.
The light is lovely as are the colours, your exposure perfect and the depth of field and overall sharpness are superb.
How interesting too that these pillars are, in fact, made from brick and not from solid carved stone.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Silvio,
The wideness of the area is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is shwing the details of the ruins. The presenc eof the people is animating the scene. Have a nice day.

Ciao caro Silvio,
To see Pompeii was one of my most treasured memories. Talk about stepping back in time!
It's not easy to make ruins look interesting to people who have no emotional connection but you have composed this with great skill, using the wonderful pillar to dominate the f/g and give depth and perspective to the rest of the shot.
I think it would be impossible to photograph Pompeii without seeing other tourists and, for me, they add life and vitality to the site.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
