Terme del Foro Pompei

Si costruiscono dopo l'80 a.C., secondo lo schema delle più grandi Terme Stabiane: ai lati delle fornaci sono la sezione femminile e maschile, nella sequenza apodyterium (spogliatoio), frigidarium (sala per il bagno freddo), tepidarium (sala tiepida), caldarium (sala calda). Alla palestra porticata s'accedeva dalla via del Foro o dallo spogliatoio della sezione maschile. Il tepidarium non era riscaldato con moderni impianti, ma da un grande braciere bronzeo donato da M. Nigidio Vaccula: telamoni separano le nicchie per accogliere unguenti e oggetti da bagno; stucchi a rilievo (del restauro successivo al 62 d.C.) decorano la volta con partizioni geometriche e figure mitologiche. Le terme pubbliche erano poco costose e molto frequentate: l'ora del bagno sembra fosse al primo pomeriggio.

I like the long perspective following the colonnaded bathhouse. Very good management of the light and shadow contrasts. Agreeable colours and excellent clarity. Interesting and informative note.

The sculpture at the back is post modern. I don't recall the artist but one of his exhibits was on display in Krakow, Poland. Good sharpness and nice repetition of the Doric style columns. Tfs!

Hello Silvio,
Lovely composition of light and dark. The long diagonal lines gives the picture enormous depth.
Colours, sharpness, DOV are well managed.
The face at the end of the arcade is a pleasant detail.

An interesting ancient place and a great example of social life back before we had Facebook :) nice composition with great depth and a cool contrast between light and shadow. Behind the pillars looks rather like an ominous place

The wideness of the interior court is giving depth tp the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the architecture of the Forum Baths. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.
