Chiesa di San Brizio
Secondo la tradizione fu il Vescovo Brizio a costruirvi un primo edificio cristiano, ove sorge l’attuale chiesa.
Esso fu ingrandito tra il IX ed il X secolo, finché alla metà del XII secolo fu costruita questa chiesa romanica, a tre navate con presbiterio sopraelevato (come a San Gregorio e San Sabino).
Della primitiva facciata resta la bella bifora centrale, che ha servito di modello per i restauri di San Gregorio Maggiore e di Sant'Eufemia in Spoleto, l’originale portale romanico, quasi certamente a semplici rincassi, è stato sostituito da un rifacimento rinascimentale, il quale reca sul fregio la scritta: AEDILES summus. OPERAE. M.D. XXXXII.
L’interno è a tre navate suddivise da colonne e pilastri; alcuni sono materiali di riutilizzo provenienti da costruzioni romane. Il presbiterio è diviso dalla navata centrale tramite un imponente arco trionfale. Ma la vera rarità è sicuramente il pavimento in cotto della navata, un capolavoro che reinterpreta in modo originale e con materia umile le straordinarie creazioni cosmatesche sparse in diverse chiese umbre.
La parte absidale è nascosta dagli edifici addossati e le ricostruzioni all’interno, seguite al terremoto del 1767, hanno modificato la copertura delle navate.
La cripta a quattro navate riprende lo schema delle cripte di San Ponziano e San Gregorio Maggiore a Spoleto.

I think the sunflowers belong to the most photogenic flowers in the world. A close up or a large yellow field give always the opportunity for good photos. Especially if there is an interesting background too and of course an excellent photographer like you.
