Photographer's Note

I had no idea of what to post and I waited for the inspiration. And it came unexpectedly.
Yesterday I went with my friends to see the movie "Made in Italy". The film revolves about bohemian London artist Robert (Liam Neeson), who returns 20 years later to Italy with his son Jack (Micheál Richardson). They will try to restore a gorgeous old country house inherited from Robert's deceased wife.

I liked the movie very much. But all the time I had a strange feeling that I have seen the landscape and the town. When I came home I found where it was filmed.
I was right! It was filmed in Monticchiello!

Monticchiello is a typical medioeval village immersed in the fields. It lies 500 m above sea level. In 2011 it had 213 inhabitants.

I find it quite strange, Monticchiello is not especially known, when in other Tuscany cities there were big crowds, here there were almost no tourists. And the village is delightful, nicely preserved old houses, charming narrow streets. In the movies, I recognized the places.

From Pienza, it is 9 km by foot one way. I walked through the fields. But in my return way, I was lost and probably made more kilometres. But I was happy anyway admiring Tuscany hills.
