Photographer's Note
Picture shows the nuclear power station of Cattenom just after the french border seen here from Luxembourg. The power station is not so appreciated in the German or Luxembourgish border region.

Hello Jean Claude,
That huge cloud rising up from the power station on such a clear day looks pretty ominous. The landscape in the foreground looks much more charming. Well captured.

Hi Jean Claude
wow, this is quite the visual. Shocking almost, to be honest.
I wonder how this effects the air quality. the photo and scene is enhanced because there are no other clouds in the sky, so its even more dramatic. At least there's a church tower in the scene :) cheers

Salut JC,

Hello Jean-Claude,
This is an original and spectacular composition. It is not a very nice view but quite fascinating. With the knowledge what caused this cloud it looks rather dangerous and unpleasant. There was a Swedish nuclear plan on our southern coast, clearly visible from Copenhagen. It annoyed the Danes, who regarded it as a severe threat to them in case of an accident. When the Swedish parliament decided to gradually scale back nuclear power this was the first plant to close.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Jean-Claude,
Nuclear power is a very controversial subject but France is more or less wedded to it with over 70% of its electricity produced in this way. The clouds of steam rising from the cooling towers take on a strange aspect as they spread out over the countryside. Interesting documentary image, well realised.
