Photographer's Note

The Treska River flowing through Matka Canyon was dammed in 1937. Fortunately the dam downstream from here survived the 1963 earthquake that decimated the nearby Macedonian capital of Skopje. The backlight here was tricky and I have had to add highlights and shadows and adjust brightness and contrast. The reflections in the reservoir were too good to ignore despite the poor lighting.
