Photographer's Note

Mdina is known as the heart of Malta. Before the arrival the St John's Knights, the Maltese nobility remained in Mdina.

This nobility went down from Norman, and didn't appreciate the arrival of the St John's Knights (future Order of Malta).

The earthquake of 1693 which destroyed a part of Mdina, was the element which marked the end of the reign of this nobility, already weakened since several years.

Strengthened city where time seems to have stopped, dead city or quiet city... and fortunately the tourists respect this place.

We are struck by a special atmosphere then that 30 seconds before, we still are deluded by agitation of Rabat, his suburb.
